发表于 17/10/2014  Group GSA

GroupGSA was recently shortlisted under ‘Small Projects’ for the Sydney Harbour Wharves Upgrade at the World Architecture Festival Awards held in Singapore 1-3 October. Also shortlisted was the Dandenong Mental Health Facility (GroupGSA in association with Bates Smart).

Michael Mandl, Director, and Wayne Krygsman, Associate Director, presented GroupGSA’s ‘Sydney Harbour Wharves Upgrade’ project to judges and participants of the Festival. The World Architecture Festival is held annually and attracts many architectural professionals from around the world. The number of successful Australian entries shortlisted was noted and is a commendation of our design capability.

The Sydney Wharves project comprises 14 ferry wharves as well as concepts for Circular Quay. A further 25 wharves may be included in the future. The Milsons Point wharf was the first wharf to be constructed in the first stage.

Michael Mandl also presented an overview of GroupGSA to the festival in a plenary session. This year the many addresses and seminars focused on urban density and its impact and contribution to sustainability and resilience of modern cities. GroupGSA’s entries sat well with this focus. The Milsons Point Wharf performs an essential public transportation service and contributes to sustainability through its design and materiality, including long-life design, low-maintenance and durability.

Wayne Krygsman, Project Architect for the wharves project, noted it’s success from the client’s perspective during the judges’ review following Michael’s presentation. The judges remarked that this was a fine project and commended the team for the quality of the building and the ability to develop a high quality, enduring, affordable transportation public infrastructure component.

Hansen and Yuncken managed the construction of the Milsons Point ferry wharf.
