XINTIANDI MIXED USE DEVELOPMENT
This mixed use development is located in a developing area of the second tier city Hangzhou in China’s eastern region. This development is the first site to be developed as part of an overall masterplan which provides a range of residential blocks, hotels, conference centre, commercial, retail and cultural facilities. The development is located above the metro station, and will create a vibrant live work and play destination to service the site itself, the needs of the larger masterplan uses, and the existing adjacent residential neighbourhoods. The brief is a mixture of several basement levels of carparking and servicing with link to the metro, five levels of retail topped with a landscape podium. Atop this podium sits two commercial towers and two serviced apartment towers. The split between the GFA is 160,000sqm of retail, 80,000sqm of commercial and 80,000sqm of serviced apartments. The design of the site opens up into a large forecourt which addresses a canal and heritage buildings which will become a cultural centre as part of the wider masterplan realisation. This design has been done in collaboration with Hassell and Hangzhou LDI.
