WESTERN PLAINS CULTURAL CENTRE
This limited design competition win was for a new gallery and reception building within the Old Dubbo High School campus, consisting of gallery and conservation areas, refurbishment of the heritage school hall as a museum and offices and the conversion of the two storey classroom building to community art workshops. The campus sits on the edge of the historic Victoria park and Gipps Street. The design allows the public to arrive on foot from Victoria park and by car from Gipps street. A reception room in the garden courtyard is created allowing arrival from both the park and the street, and the space is also designed to allow for functions with good overflow to the courtyards while maintaining protection of the exhibition spaces.
