REGATTA WALK FORESHORE REDEVELOPMENT
LAKE MACQUARIE, NSW
The Regatta Walk Foreshore Redevelopment involved the creation of a new café, amenities and public recreation space at the southern end of a foreshore reserve. This project was undertaken in association with Day Bukh Architects.
Inherent site qualities are emphasised in the design and include the site’s relationship to the lake, its proximity to the town centre and its role in a unique, historical and recreational area.
The design seeks to emphasise the foreshore location by enhancing views to the lake and creating new relationships with the waters edge. To execute these concepts, a sustainable materials palette that included a mix of recycled and sustainably forested timber, locally quarried stone, and energy efficient LED lighting, was chosen.
