Our approach for this major residential development was to focus primarily on addressing issues of residential amenity, providing safe and secure public spaces of high quality and a suite of architectural treatments applied to the various building facades that contribute positively to the Lewisham context in terms of perceived bulk and scale yet still set a benchmark for future developments in the vicinity.
We see this project as an opportunity to change the perception of how a high density residential development can contributes to an existing urban community. We see opportunities to provide building facades that provide variety and articulation at all scales and heights, and landscape elements that reinforce the notion of quality urban space. Revitalisation of prior industrial land and the introduction of green, sunny and usable public parkways will transform the area. While direct pedestrian links from Old Canterbury Road to the new Lewisham West Light Rail station will provide an active urban space that affords community interaction and participation.
