GEORGES RIVER PRECINCT PLAN
The Georges River Precinct Plan defines a high level urban renewal plan for the long term transformation of the Moorebank industrial area along the Georges River, opposite the Liverpool CBD, into a vibrant mixed use precinct.
Its strategic intent is to establish Liverpool as the “River City” of South West Sydney. The plan recommends development that complements the growth of the existing CBD, with a key tenet being the opening up of the Georges River to extend the heart of public life in the Liverpool CBD to the riverfront. Key strategies address Street Network, Flood Mitigation, Waterfront, Land Use, Density, Transport, Open Space and Community. These create a flexible framework for realising a liveable, inclusive city with a sense of place inspired by the river; and one that benefits from continuous public access to the waterfront.
The plan was prepared in collaboration with MacroPlan Dimasi, who provided the economic analysis that identified the precinct’s strategic potential to transform from an industrial estate into a mixed use precinct.
