National Boer War Memorial
The National Boer War Memorial is located on the ceremonial axis of Anzac Parade in Canberra, and was dedicated on Wednesday 31 May 2017. The memorial is unique on the Parade as it integrates the figurative sculptures into a landscape setting which is characterised by a rocky, undulating landform with sparse, arid planting, framed by hand forged copper walls. A layering of interpretation is provided through cast bronze diaries set into the front wall, history text, and a poem extract from Boer War Correspondent, Banjo Paterson. The four bronze sculptures of mounted Troopers, created by the distinguished sculptor Louis Laumen, are the centrepiece to the memorial.

Dominion Residences for adaptive Re-Use Medium Density Development
Dominion Residences is a thoughtfully articulated residential development located in Sydney’s Darlinghurst. It features two heritage and three new buildings with a total of 109 one, two and three-bedroom apartments. Its resounding expression is the integration of its heritage narrative into both the architectural and landscape fabrics. Integrations such as salvaged timber, found architectural elements and a series of narrative works serve to connect the old and the new and give Dominion a strong sense of place, while ultimately respecting the history of the site. The project brief was to design a unique residential environment that sensitively responded to the heritage context. Preserving and integrating the heritage buildings, sandstone street walls and gardens was a key aspect of the brief and one that set clear parameters and challenges for the design. At street level, the heritage precinct has been reflected at the base of the new buildings where solid facades provide a tactile and pedestrian friendly environment.
Winner 2015 - AILA NSW Landscape Architecture Award

The spatial layout of this specialised sports facility has been designed for flexibility. It can cope with both large and small volumes of users, a range of users and alternative purposes.
Winner Gold - Winner Gold Interior Design Co- Working & Studio Space
Ernst and Young Wavespace
GroupGSA was appointed to lead the design of the Wavespace within 200 George Street Sydney, creating a benchmark regional destination of digital innovation for EY Asia Pacific. Our team’s research and experience, across workplace and education, brought a ready understanding of the impact of design on behaviours and we identified the opportunity to inform both conscious and unconscious thought to foster innovative outcomes. EY was investing in an environment to support it for a minimum ten and potential 15-year period of occupancy, so developing a framework with the inherent ability to evolve without physical change or capital cost was the driver. A considered application of technology, flexibility and modularity of components, and an inherent ability to manage digital content facilitated a solution that is intuitive to change and simplistic in application whilst supporting the ability to continually evoke a changing user experience. The Wavespace provides a physical environment to foster enriched experiences for EY clients, partners and people. The environment, and the behaviours it evokes, reflects and informs the innovation of the EY brand being intrinsic in its DNA. Most importantly, the environment enhances the EY customer proposition in an increasingly competitive market and the facility is an opportunity to attract industry talent, attracted to EY’s leadership in digital change.
Winner Gold - Environmental Design
GroupGSA were appointed to reposition a call centre for 1500 Westpac employees in Concord West, Sydney, and our studio’s interiors and graphics teams thought big. The result included a 200sqm mural that brings energy and vitality to what could have been a sea of workpoints on a 16,000sqm floor plate. Embracing the opportunity to enliven the environment, GroupGSA collaborated with Studio A and resident artist Emily Crockford. The the brief allowed the mural to act as a ‘hero’ piece supported by a series of 10 patterns that could be applied to glazing in meeting rooms within the workspace, totalling an impressive 100+ linear metres. And, while the mural’s spring, energy and fireworks themes included some red, the fit-out focused on creating a comfortable, uplifting environment for staff unconstrained by the Bank’s branding palette. The creative energy behind the mural was driven by Emily, with GroupGSA briefing her to consider both the broad view and the detail so the mural could be seen as a landscape from a distance while also appreciated for its detail closer in. For the meeting room privacy graphics, the graphics team digitised Emily’s 10 hand-painted patterns and used them to create much larger patterns to fill the considerable glazing lengths required. In doing so, they were able to weave the different visual themes together seamlessly, creating a strong visual story of the ‘micro’ details. This injected much-needed colour and energy into the vast workspace, reinforcing and contributing to the creation of a dynamic, connected workplace community.
Ernst & Young
"Just wanting to take a quick moment to say WOW! There is no better feeling than walking into a space and being somewhat speechless - it was truly one of those great moments when you are completely blown away
Congratulations and well done to you and the extended GSA team on your efforts to execute our new flagship 'wavespace'. There are plenty of pieces I would like to site however I will touch on a few. The standout is of course the wall - we always knew it would be a defining piece, however it is spectacular, sculptural, flowing and talks to you on so many levels - an amazing piece indeed. Secondly, the fact that you have created so many spaces with effectively no walls is testament to a vision realised around true multi-purpose nature and need of the space. And ultimately the total geometry of space, the multi views, the depth of it's layers and the sheer scale it brings has defined this space which was once baron after thought space new brought to life.
As a space transformed, it is a complete turnaround and realisation of an asset we never knew we had - you guys nailed it "
Mark Mitchell, Premises and Workplace Services Leader EY

"GroupGSA were the building and landscape architect for our flagship home, Greenwood, at Normanhurst NSW. Lisa-Maree and her team created an outstanding building that fitted into the local environment but functions as a five star hotel. The design was exquisite and of the highest standard whilst still meeting the budget set early in the project. Almost all first time visitors to the home comment that they had no idea that aged care could look like this! We have since used GroupGSA to document a development application for another outstanding RACF in Brisbane."
Greg Zieschang, Allity Greenwood

GroupGSA promoted a positive team environment, with a collaborative approach and a high quality of design and documentation that ensured that Headspace Caboolture and Bundaberg was delivered on time and within budget.
