Report from Matt Young on the Vietnam Studio Weekend Retreat:

"Having undergone so much growth and development over the last 5 years, it was time to take stock away from work pressures and really enjoy our time together.

An early start (3am at the airport) on Friday morning saw our team descend on Danang, boarding our coach to go for a quick breakfast and an opportunity to eat MiQuang made in the place it comes from. It was then straight on to the marble sculpture factory and marble mountain for a morning of climbing, walking, appreciating pagodas nestled in mountain caves and so many stairs!

After lunch we relaxed by the famous My Khe beach before heading back to the hotel for a little rest. Then back to the beach for an afternoon of fun and games and team building. From staff choreographed dances to space hopper races, construction problems and a version of twister, we were all laughing and having a wonderful time getting to know each other even better.

Another short rest and on to dinner at A La Carte restaurant. What a treat arriving to the GSA banner for photos and then a stunning meal with champagne toasts all round. A few tears words from Matt and it was back to the hotel to crash - and that was just day 1!!!!!

Day 2 we were up bright and early to catch the GSA coach to Bana Hills. After taking the world’s longest cable car ride we arrived at the greatest selfie spot in Vietnam: Golden Bridge, held between the Buddha’s hands. We all took the opportunity for photos at this iconic attraction before ascending another cable car run to the larger French medieval village at the crest of the mountain. So much to do and see from tobogganing to German Beer Halls to Live dancing and bands and of course: more selfies!

Then it was back to the hotel to change and get ready for our dinner and evening in Historic Hoi An, a world heritage site. Returning in the bright neon interior of the coach a few intrepid GSA’ers kicked on with beers by the beach and a few even made it out clubbing to close out another massive day of bonding, fun and friendship.

The final day saw a subdued excursion to some of Danang’s sites whilst most slept in. Then it was off for lunch and and an afternoon sipping tea and coffee nearby the famous dragon bridge. Finally it was time to head home.

What a fantastic tour - amazingly well put together by Thuy Nguyen and her team. There were so many smiles, so much laughter and more than a few surprises. An absolute treat for all and exceptionally well deserved after a very tough year and lots of long hours and tricky clients. Something to remember for a long time!"
