Alina Valcarce Recipient of 40 Under 40 Awards

Asia’s leading architecture and design magazine, proudly presented the 12th edition of its annual 40 Under 40 Awards, with a presentation ceremony on 29 May at The Annex, Nan Fung Place, Des Voeux Road Central, Hong Kong.
Recognising young design talents from across Asia, it was a record year for nominations to the 2018 edition in four design fields — Art, Architecture, Interior Design and Product Design.
The final 40 were chosen based on professional achievements, contributions to the industry, and potential for future development and growth. 10 were selected for awards in each discipline. Consideration was also given to any awards won, participation in industry events as a speaker, panelist, or judge level (where applicable) and contributions to society.
GroupGSA’s own Alina Valcarce was one of the ‘under 40’ awarded.
Alina, our Principal Beijing Studio, is a unique and extra-ordinary individual, born in Cuba, educated in Spain and has lived and worked in Beijing for 8 years. Alina is a very talented architect, who joined GroupGSA as Principal, Beijing, a new start-up studio in 2016.
Alina not only has great design skill and passion for architecture and landscape design, but is across all aspects of practice including marketing, people skills and finance; a rare combination for someone so young. She is also a great mentor to her team, who delight in working with her.
In the short time Alina has been with GSA, she has won several design competitions and commissions which are now under construction.
Alina’s passion for design is encapsulated in her outstanding portfolio of work, which demonstrates a freedom of flowing forms and integration of landscape design and sustainability.
With a most engaging personality, clients are drawn to working with Alina to experience her philosophical design approach and design journey.
